If you’ve been following what’s been going on lately with Home Bistro, you already know that CEO Zalmi Duchman is a dealmaker.
Not only has he been adding new Celebrity Chefs to their lineup (“Iron Chef” Cat Cora, “Hungry Fan” Chef Daina Falk and soon to launch meals from celebrity chefs Ayesha Curry, Roblé Ali, Claudia Sandoval and Richard Blais)…
He’s established partnerships, formed joint ventures, and even completed some acquisitions.
One of those acquisitions was Model Meals (which was announced July 7th) – a company that offers Whole30 and Paleo approved meals, weekly rotating menus prepared by professional chefs which only use the highest quality ingredients available and are sourced responsibly and locally, and delivered in sustainable, eco-friendly packaging.
Earlier this week, Duchman announced that the cofounders of Model Meals – Camille May and Danika Brysha – have been appointed as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, respectively.

In the industry, this type of acquisition can be referred to as an “Acquihire” – which is when you are acquiring a business to get access to their talent (vs purely for their intellectual property).
In some cases, you might see this term cast in a negative light – the team couldn’t get traction with their products so they get “bought” and go work somewhere else.
However, we know from the Sept 27th press release that Home Bistro launched the Model Meals nationwide…
And according to their Oct 25th press release, Home Bistro CEO Zalmi Duchman stated,
“We are excited to add Camille and Danika to our executive management team. When we completed the Model Meals acquisition, we knew their talent and skill sets were a perfect match for us and as Home Bistro continues on its growth trajectory, these are two critical positions that needed to be filled.
With Camille having previously served as Model Meals’ CFO and Danika as its CEO/CMO, we are fortunate to have two incredibly qualified individuals who can execute their respective roles and with the significant industry knowledge they both possess.”
